Shaped by all things beautiful and feminine, Nicoleta Parascan’s first steps towards entering the captivating world of fashion were taken somewhere around the young age of six, when she received her very own first fashion magazine. Discovering an entirely new universe, filled with pretty ladies and beautiful clothes, there was not much able to ever beat or compete with the fantasy land that was suddenly opening up. Surrounded by books, constantly thinking about the next best outfit, in search of a signature style and defined by a nostalgic calling towards the past, Nicoleta believes in taking chances, in destiny and in building her own path in life. When she’s not writing, you can easily find her playing with her cat, reading an old book, watching movies, exploring the city or blogging her own daily adventures.

Lady of blood: keeping the magic alive

Magical being or mythical creature, living a curse or perhaps epitomizing a blessing, the lady of blood is one to hide under many disguises, but it is utter danger that she ultimately portrays when hunted and facing peril. Sometimes she’s nothing more than a shadow vanishing through the wall, at other times she is raw, freezing magnetism. For photographer Redavell Tjen instead, the witch becomes…

Empowering, dramatic, dark: Samurau by Marta Gorczyca

Every collection hides its own personal meaning, revealing its carefully encoded message little by little, through subtle details, a particular palette of colours, or a specific string of silhouettes. For Marta Gorczyca, “Samurau” came together like a fashionable manifesto, inspired by women and designed to encourage them to reveal their unique strengths through a relevant choice of outfits. Regardless of status, background or limitations, every…

Classic beauty lost in a cinematic landscape

Blue seas under blue skies, powerful reds setting fire to the old world architecture, classic tones of black and white competing for attention; and it the midst of the cinematic landscape, a beauty so striking, yet so incredibly soft that makes everything else fade into the background. Scenes that could easily belong to a distant past are being brought up-do-date and made relevant by Stefan…

How to: the minimal twisted ponytail at Celine

This season begs for a certain kind of ease and for a subdued take on elegance, both in the fashion and in the hair department, and luckily getting there is not all that complicated. By borrowing some inspiration from Celine’s fall / winter 2014 presentation, the simple and minimal are immediately being translated to modern sophistication, with the classic low ponytail updated to an ultra-cool…

Sweetness meets pure sex: a painting being brought to life

She hides bits and pieces of the old world within her wide universe, walking lighthearted and easy while bringing together fragments of the past and fractions belonging to a still present. A living portrait wandering amongst old-age paintings, a muse bathed in the warmest light, her presence a fading echo, her body a work of art. Photographed by Ivor Paanakker, Marleen morphs into a dream-like…

Delicate beauty with a retro twist

One can never truly grow tired of the divine inspiration veiling the 1960s, not as it keeps calling back, perpetually fascinating and continuing to effortlessly delight with its delicate take on beauty. A smouldering bouffant, or hair that falls down in loose waves, a classic cat eye and lips bearing the perfect shade of coral, porcelain skin emphasized by the daintiest pieces of jewelry; ethereal…

This underwater fantasy is one you’ll want to enter (NSFW)

“This world that we live in is full of enchantment for those with eyes to see it.” And after unhurriedly entering what is Beth Mitchell‘s extravagant underwater fantasy universe, the same can be said about her ethereal sets that appear to be describing a submerged wonderland, rather than a reality built just a few feet under the water’s surface. Dreamlike, conveying tales of love, enchantment…

Between opulence and enlightenment lies salvation

Opulence carrying divine inspiration, a sense of pride hiding in lavish details, more sparkles, religious motifs and a conspicuous luxury dissipating right before your eyes. An updated portrayal of what was Mary Magdalene’s quest for salvation, juxtaposes two contrasting beliefs marking one splendid transition, as beautifully captured by Julia Javel, and styled by Diane Cabasse and Tara Ziegfeld.
