My penchant for Paul Smith is hardly a secret, so when each Christmas comes around I get quite excited at the prospect of a new scent from the quintessentially British designers. Sadly Christmas 2007 doesn’t herald a new men’s fragrance. But for the fairer sex Sir Paul has released Paul Smith Rose.

Made in France, and described as fresh, modern, airy, and sensual, Paul Smith Rose is based upon the rose variety named after Sir Paul. Of course, the description can get far more in depth with terms such as “woody accord” and “soft husks” bandied about, but the important thing is that Paul Smith Rose actually smells delightful.

Sadly Paul Smith Rose hasn’t been released worldwide yet, so we wouldn’t recommend running off to your local emporium to lay your hands on it. But if you were considering it for that someone special don’t forget that you’ll be able to find it on both Paul Smith’s site and eBay, and really surprise someone with a gift that probably won’t be worn by common folk for quite some time.

Late one Oxford night Daniel P Dykes set about creating a fashion publication that would go someway to being an arbiter on fashion as it appeals to the emerging power generations: those who don't remember a world without the Internet and for whom work plays second fiddle to pleasure. And so Fashionising.com was born as a publication for those who were focussed not just on fashion's trends, but on society's too, and how those trends could all go to heighten the art of living. Hence, Daniel sees a future where, for those young at heart, both fashion and style are grounded in traditional quality, but with a youthful, sensualised edge. Daniel is Fashionising.com's Editor in Chief and Chairman.
