Makeup how-to: DSquared2 SS11

We loved the masculine elements of DSquared2′s SS11 collection – and topping off the collection’s ‘geek chic’ feel was a suitably played-down yet still desirable make-up look created by Gordon Espinet for MAC. Fancy recreating the look for yourself? Read on for a step-by-step guide.

For the eye:

  1. Smudge MAC’s Mega Metal Eye Shadow in ‘Unflappable’ around the upper and lower lash line with a brush.
  2. Apply MAC Black Pro-Lash Mascara to the upper and lower lashes.
  3. Finally, apply MAC Teddy Eye Kohl liner along the water line of the eye.

For the face:

  1. Apply MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in ‘Natural’ with a 227 brush, and blend out with brush 168.
  2. Apply Studio Sculpt Concealer as needed.
  3. Finish by applying MAC’s ‘Brit Wit’ Blushcreme on the centre of the cheeks.

For the lips, the MAC team simply prepped the lips with lip conditioner, then applied Dim Lip Erase for a subtle, natural finish.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
