Eva Marie Saint, Janet Leight, Kim Novak, Grace Kelly… Hitchcock had a penchant for icy blondes, and their cool yet elegant beauty continues to inspire. Make up artist Tom Pecheux created a look for the Badgley Mischka fall / winter 2013 ready to wear show that featured sparkling blue eyeliner and matte orange lips, channeling the Hitchcock heroine in the best of ways.

While it may be very glamorous, the look still has that air of mysteriousness and strength, after-all, Hitchcock was the “Master of Suspense”. The best part about this look is that it’s very easy to do on your own: read on after the break for the steps.

How to: Badgley Mischka modern Hitchcock heroine makeup

Prepare your skin for this beauty look by hydrating it with moisturizer like MAC’s skin moisture cream. This not only protects your skin but it will also help your make up to stay on longer.

Next, create flawless looking skin by applying foundation evenly on your face. For the show, mineralized foundation was used together with a concealer for areas that require extra coverage. MAC Studio Finish Concealer is highly recommended. Then set your skin wit some powder like MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder for a matte finish.

Start working on your eyes by lining your upper lash lines with the golden black eyeliner pencil like MAC’s Glamour Daze Kohl Power Eye Pencil. To get that sexy heroine look, wing your eyeliner towards the outer corner of your eyes.

Set your eyeliner with eye shadow like MAC Pressed Pigment in Damson to add dimension to your upper lids.
Take some white eye pencil like MAC’s eye kohl and then line your upper and lower waterlines to highlight the shape of your eyes. Then line your lower lashes with light or sky blue eye shadow. For the show, MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Clearwater was used.

Next, make your eyes pop by cutting false eyelashes like MAC’s #7 falsies and then stacking them together on the outer corners of your lashes. Once you’ve secured them, curl your eyelashes and apply mascara. Tom recommends MAC Haute & Naughty Lash Mascara.

The eyebrows for this look are natural looking so just brush them out and lightly define them with eye shadow. Use short, light strokes to keep them from becoming too strong looking.

There’s really no need to do anything on your cheeks because the main focus of this look are the eyes and lips but if you want a little colour, apply a very light coat of blush on the apples of your cheek.

Before anything else you have to prep you lips too. You can do this with a lip balm or any other conditioner like MAC Lip Conditioner. Next, outline your lips and fill them with a red-orange lip pencil like MAC’s Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in High Energy.

Finsh the look, by topping your lips with the pale peach lip color. MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in Runway Hit was used for the show to create dimension on the lips.

The lives of heroines in technicolor may not be easy but creating a make up look that resembles them is. This look is perfect day or night most especially if you want to feel like you’re on top of the world and ready for anything.
