For many seasons, we’ve seen a lot of beauty looks that concentrate on bold, sexy statement lips combined with a very subtle and barely there eye make up. Blood red, fuchsia pink and orange were the go-to lipsticks of a lot of women for the longest time so, it is nice to see that for spring 2013, a lot of make up artists decided that it is time to see fierce eyes on women once again.

This type of make up is an everyday look that you can do yourself for only 5 minutes. You can wear this look during the daytime and just darken the eyeliner around the eyes at night.

On the runway for BCBG Max Azria’s spring 2013 show, it was all about the black gel eyeliner and coats and coats of mascara. Makeup artist, Val Garland for Temptu said the inspiration of the look was taken from “a cool girl that’s a lot like Kate Moss”. Intrigued? Read on to know more about this fierce eye makeup and how to create it yourself.

How to: BCBG Max Azria’s grungy lived-in eyeliner

Make sure that your face is clean and clear before putting on any type of makeup. Apply foundation all over your face and then apply primer and concealer around the eyes to cover up blemishes and to lighten the skin around the area.

With black gel eyeliner, line your eyes inside the waterline then use a square heavy hair brush to smudge it out slightly.
For your eyelashes, you can use an eyelash curler for extra curl, or you can just coat them with black mascara. The goal is to make it look like you have been wearing the mascara for a long time. Backstage at BCBG this was done by using four different mascaras though you can vary it up by using two or just using multiple coats of the one mascara.
You want to look flawless and glowing so contour your cheeks with a warm glow bronzer and highlight them with a shimmery champagne shade.
To finish the look, apply a soft rose shade of lipstick to achieve a stained, natural look.
