There’s always something about the ’60s that makes it a great source of inspiration. From the mod movement to the hippies, this decade has truly left a mark. This is probably why 1960s fashion is so huge as a trend this year, and stemming from that trend: false eye lashes. These nifty little things allow us to bring out our inner vintage vixens without going through too much trouble, as the Moschino spring 2013 beauty look proved.

“60’s meets Lana Del Rey” is how Tom Pecheux (for MAC Cosmetics) described the look he created for the Moschino show. To truly get the mod look, he used false eyelashes on the upper and lower lash lines over stark white eye shadow. This look is quick and easy to do and we’ve got the how-to right after the break.

How to: Moschino’s mod beauty look

Before anything else, it’s important to prepare your face for the application of make up. It needs to be well hydrated and you can do this by spritzing on MAC Fix+. Once you’ve done this, apply primer all over your face. For the Moschino show, MAC Prep + Prime Moisture Infusion was used to keep the face moist and fresh.

Once you’ve prepped your face you can go ahead an even out your skin by applying foundation evenly. You can use MAC Select Moisturecover just like they did for the show. Apply as much as needed but don’t over do it.

The eyes are the highlight of this look and to get this start by lining your water line with white eyeliner like MAC Eye Kohl in Fascinating.

Using a pencil brush like MAC 219, layer MAC Eye Shadow in Gesso on top of the eye liner. Do this all over, from the inner corner of the eyes to the outer. Wing the eye shadow to create the vintage mod look.
The most important part of the eyes are the lashes and to get this look you will need two sets of false lashes like MAC 35 Lashes. Trim them to fit your eyes and apply it on both the upper and lower lash lines creating big beautiful eyes.
Define your lashes further by applying MAC Haute & Naughty Mascara on both upper and lower lashes.

Define and give your brows a more straigh ’60s look by thickly filling them with eyebrow pencil like MAC Luxe Brow Powder Pencil in Brunette or Deep Dark Brunette.

Finish this beauty look by putting on MAC Lipstick in Morange on your lips and then giving them shine with a coat of clear lip gloss like MAC Clear Lipglass.

Going for a vintage or mod look is simple yet high impact as proven by Tom Pecheux’s look for Moschino. If you want to go all out, pair the beauty look with a 1960’s inspired hairstyle.
