How to: the nautical beauty look at Dion Lee

Blue eye makeup is a huge trend for this year. Whether you prefer blue eye shadow or blue eye liner you can be assured that you’ll be stealing the spotlight when you go with a bold blue beauty look. That being said, Napoleon Perdis took advantage of this beauty trend and incorporated it in the Dion Lee show at Australian Fashion Week (MBFWA). The look created was moodier and sexier compared to the usual beauty looks designed by Napoleon Perdis yet it keeps that simple and clean feel he is known for.

The inspiration behind this look was modern nautical with a hint of darkness. It’s a good mix of different elements but still very much reflects the brand’s essence. We have the complete how-to for this look and you’ll find it if you read on after the break.

How to: Dion Lee’s nautical beauty look

Prime

Any good look needs to start off with a good priming routine. To prep your skin for extra hydration, use two pumps of Auto Pilot Napoleon Complex Skin Renewal Serum. Massage into the skin with sanitized fingertips or use Complexion Perfection Brush 23s.

Next, use Complexion Perfection Brush 23s and blend Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Skin Primer over the entire face. For a youthful glow, blend Auto Pilot Radiance-Boosting Primer across the highpoints of the face and forehead using a Complexion
Perfection Brush 17s. Feather the remaining over the whole face.
Curl the lashes and apply your first coat of Napoleon Perdis Mesmer-Eyes Mascara.

Base

Using Flawless Foundation Brush g18, apply Advanced Mineral Makeup across the ‘feature focus’ area (the triangle of features
– eyes, nose and lips) of the face then blend in an outward direction for a flawless finish. Correct any dark pigment under the eyes and across the mobile lid using The One Concealer. Follow with the appropriate shade of Mighty Concealer Pen to fuse the shades for a flawless finish. For best application results, use Full Coverage Brush g12. Continue to conceal any blemishes or discoloration on the face.

Bring out the cheekbones and create a lift below the eye area with a ‘Hollywood V’. Apply Mighty Concealer Pen Mellow Yellow
in a ‘V’ shape using High Definition Foundation & Concealer Brush g20. Continue to highlight the bridge of the nose and cupid’s bow. Set your foundation by dusting Camera Finish Powder Foundation over the hot spots of the face (forehead, nose and chin) using Finishing Powder Brush s25. Lightly set around the eye area using Contour Brush 16b.

Couture Contouring

Using Contour Brush 16b for precise application, sweep the highlight shade from the Ultimate Contour Palette across the tops of the cheekbone, the bridge of the nose, the cupids bow and softly under the eye area to set your “Hollywood V”.

Eyes

Using Sculpting Brush 10r, wash the highlight shade from the Ultimate Contour Palette across the mobile lid from lash line to brow. Sweep Mosaic Flushing Powder through the socket to add a touch of warmth to the eye using Contour Brush 16b.

Next, you’ll need to line your eyes in two different colors. Line the upper waterline using China Doll Gel Eyeliner Heaven. Apply with Angle Brush g5 with the intensity strongest at the inner corner of the eye. Then, freshen and brighten up the lower water line by applying China Doll Gel Eyeliner in Alabaster.

Brows

Comb the brows and define with Eyebrow Pencil Pale Rider or Chocoholic. Feather the product onto the brow following the natural direction of the hair growth.

Lips

Using Architect Lip Brush 3h, coat the lips with Luminous Lip Veil In The Flesh. For a high shine finish, apply Lip Lacquer Clearly Glam to the centre of the lip.

There’s nothing like a bit of color to make any beauty look pop and this one from the Dion Lee show can be worn day or night. It’s simple yet striking, nothing over the top but you still look amazingly beautiful.
