We’ve always had this certain image of punk – tough, a bit unkempt and sometime androgynous. Duvenage together with MAC cosmetics presented a different type of punk for their spring / summer 2015 beauty look at Australian fashion week (MBFWA). This type of punk is pretty with big emphasized eyes and luminous skin.

Girly with an edge, this look is surely worth trying and we’ve got the steps right after the break.

How to: Duvenage’s “pretty punk” look

With any make up look or routine it’s always best to starting by prepping. You can do this using an all in one primer or do what they did for the Duvenage show – spray on some Fix+ Spritz Spray to hydrate your skin. Then apply Studio Moisture cream and Prep + Prime Higlighter for healthy luminous skin.

Once you’re done prepping your face, create a flawless base using foundation. Apply it evenly all over your face using your hands or a foundation brush. For areas that need extra coverage, you can use some concealer that’s the same shade as your foundation. For the Duvenage show, MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation and Cover Up Concealer were used.

Using a blending brush apply a coral shade of eyeshadow on your lids.

Next, take a black eyeliner pencil like MAC Fascinating Eye Kohl – apply it starting on the waterline of your eyes concentrating on the inner corners to highlight it.
Using liquid eyeliner, create a winged line on your upper lash line. MAC’s Blacktrack Fluid line is highly recommended.

This look has big, bright eyes thanks to eyelashes. To get the look, put on some false eyelashes (MAC lashes #4 was used to the show) and then apply mascara like MAC Haute and Naughty mascara on your upper and lower lashes. Two to three layers should do the trick.

For the natural looking brows this look has, use eyeshadow in a shade that matches you hair to fill your brows in. Use a clean mascara / eyebrow brush or a cotton tip to smoothen the look. Then use a clear brow gel to keep your brows in place.

Add some colour to your cheeks by applying a peach shade like MAC Peaches Blush on your cheek bones.

With the eyes being the main attraction of this look, the lips are just topped off with clear lip gloss for a natural look.

If there’s one thing this pretty punk look has in common with all the other punk looks we’ve seen, it’s the ease in doing it. Punk doesn’t really require much effort which makes it really appealing to women who are in a hurry but still want to look great.
