This beauty look from Ellery for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) is for the misfits, the rebels and the renegades of society and fashion. The mood that make up artist Napoleon Perdis wanted to evoke is that these girls are not pretty in the usual sense of the word, but they are very chic and the coolest misfits imaginable.

The make up is barely there, with just a hint of blush that looks natural, subtle contouring and shading on the face and the eyes and no mascara, just a hint of liner to emphasise the natural lashes.

If you want to look like the coolest and rebels out there – the kind who’s too cool to care about dolling up – then this effortless beauty look would be perfect for you. Check out the steps after the break.

How to: effortless bare make up from Ellery

Skin

The first step is to prep the skin for extra hydration: backstage at Ellery the team used two pumps of Auto Pilot Napoleon Complex Skin Renewal Serum. Massage this into the skin with clean fingertips or a foundation brush (like Napoleon Perdis’ Flawless Foundation Brush g18).
Using the same foundation brush, blend Napoleon’s Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Skin Primer over the entire face.
Still using the foundation brush, apply Napoleon Perdis’ Sheer Genius across the “feature focus” area (eyes, nose and lips) of your face and blend in an outward direction for a flawless finish.

To hide any discolouration under the eye area, use Napoleon’s The One Concealer. Layer it with the correct shade of Might Concealer Pen to blend it evenly to your skin tone. For best results, use a full coverage brush (like Napoleon’s Full Coverage Brush g12).
Highlight your browbone with Napoleon Perdis’ Mighty Concealer Pen Mellow Yellow and continue to conceal any other blemishes that you might still have with an appropriate shade of the concealer pen.
Lastly, using a powder brush, set your foundation by dusting Napoleon Perdis’ Mattifying Mineral Primer over the hot spots of your face (forehead, nose and chin). Use a contour brush (like Napoleon’s Contour brush 16b) under the eye area.

Cheeks

Sculpt your cheekbones by shading softly with Color Disc Trench Coat. Using a contour brush, sweep under the cheekbone and then blend it to a subtle finish.
Highlight above and below your cheekbones using Napoleon’s Camera Finish Ivory Idol to accentuate the shading softly. You can also use a shade that is two shades lighter than your skin tone.

Eyes & Brows

Contour the socket of your eyes using Napoleon’s Color Disc Trench Coat. Use a sculpting brush like Napoleon’s Sculpting Brush 10r for a subtle finish.
Using a flat shader brush, press Napoleon’s The Ultimate Nude Palette shades 1-2 onto the inner corner of the eye and blend across to the mobile lid.
With a tapered brush (Tapered Brush 10b from Napoleon Perdis), highlight your brow bone with the Ultimate Nude Palette Shade 1-2.
Line the upper lash line using China Doll Gel Eyeliner Equinox creating a very thin line. For best results, use a fine liner brush for application. For the waterlin, apply Eye Bright Inner Rim Eyeliner from Napoleon Perdis.
Comb the brows and define with Napoleon Perdis’ Eyebrow Pencil Pale Rider. Feather the product onto the brow following the natural direction of their growth.

Lips

Put on a Lip Pencil In The Buff across the whole lip. Depending on your skin tone, you can use Napoleon’s DeVine Goddess Lipstick in Demeter, Iris or Gamella. For that perfect nude, use a lip brush like Napoleon’s Architect Lip Brush 3h.

The finished beauty look is all about being effortless and nonchalant, so it works perfectly with equally effortless bed hair or a messy undone up-do.
