Tattoos: fashionable or faux pas

Written by Ren on 01.10.07

What once was a sign of rebellion is now more a sign of uniqueness. Tattoos are being worn by a large range of celebrities, everyone from Christy Turlington who has a flower tattoo on her ankle, to Nicole Richie with a reported 9 tattoos.

Avril Lavigne has a star on her wrist, so does Gisele Bundchen - and even seemingly innocent Mandy Moore has a heart on her toes.

Classic Red Lipstick Trend

Written by Ren on 24.06.07

It seems that classic red is being worn boldly by bombshell starlets, leaving behind nudes and naturals. Classic red is duller than fire engine, but lighter than deep red (such as reds with purples or plumb through them). Gwen Stefani who is known for her fire engine red lipstick trend has opted for a slightly deeper red with less orange undertones, along with Christina Aguilera who wears classic red with a ruby base.

Red lips work best with simple eye-makeup (for example, a bit of eyeliner and lashings of mascara), and look fantastic when teamed with classic hairstyles.

Fashion trends can lead to amputation

Written by Daniel P Dykes on 18.06.07

We thought a fashion faux pas killing off your social life was as bad as it could get. Not so, as 16 year old James Bishop shows us that you can lose a limb to looking good.

The only way that James could put on his new skin tight jeans was by jumping into the bath. Lathering himself up with soap and causing the denim to stretch during an estimated 30 minute ordeal James had on the tightest jeans imaginable.

He then proceeded to drink a bottle of vodka with a friend and they both passed out in the sun. Upon drying in the direct sunlight, the denim shrank back to the original size cutting off James’s circulation. The pain caused him to awaken from his alcohol induced coma 3 hours latter. His jeans were now so tight he was unable to walk or crawl towards the phone.

James's cries for help were answered an hour later when an elderly neighbour came to investigate "a weird noise" "It sounded like the high pitch squealing of a bird in distress". The reason James’s cries went unrecognised was because the jeans also restricted around his testicles leaving him unable to call out in anything but a squeal.

An ambulance was called out and paramedics carefully cut of the offending jeans. James was taken to the local hospital for observation. While no permanent damage was done Duty Doctor Hamish Johnston told journalists that "Left for a few more hours the lack of blood to James’s legs could in worst case scenario led to amputation. The pressure placed on his testicles could still have long term implications."

Authorities are pleading with Emo Youth to wear slightly baggier pants and hopes this incident is a warning to all tight jean wearing teenagers.

Source: Stuffed, kind of like James. He's being severely bullied we trust.

Late last year we brought you news of a Kate Moss perfume being on the horizon, some six months later and Digital Spy is suggesting that the upcoming launch might be a point of contention between the hypermodel and Coty, the company behind the deal.

The model is hoping to launch her fragrance in Marrakesh with the Babyshambles frontman by her side, but perfume bosses are worried that he will create a bad impression of the product and harm sales.

Despite risks, the tan is still hot

Written by Ren on 31.05.07

The debate of tanning has arisen again recently when Beauty Queen, Brittany Leitz, approached the media to warn people about skin cancer after developing a melanoma. Tanning salons are still huge, and so is the tanned look. But there are some moving away from the Tan in favour of more natural looking skin.

Here we can see different celebrities skin tones. Jessica Simpson normally prefers to keep it tanned, so does Posh spice, while the likes of Nicole Kidman, Dita Von Teese and Scarlett Johansson prefer to keep their skin natural and pale.
