If you can't wait for the show which is on May 15 head over to their site, and have your iPod ready for some Pre-Chanel show podcast love. Alexi Freeman Autumn/Winter 2008 CollectionDesigner, fashioniser, and rising star Alexi Freeman proves that Australia isn't always behind when it comes to fashion. Alexi's divine A/W 2008 collection, which hits the racks of Milly Sleeping next month, is right on top of the biggest runway trends - featuring elements of sheer fabrics, wide-leg pants, star motifs, and all with his own unique take of bad-girl meets classic belle.
Womens Pre-Fall 2008 Collections RoundupI've come to a realisation that I rather enjoy doing these roundups, so on the heels of the Mens Collection Roundup, and only slightly belatedly comes this pre-fall roundup as collected in the Designers & Collections forum. These are some of my favourites from the various pre-fall collections, to see them all just click through on the links below the image.
Again thanks to Tania & Daniel for keeping us up to date. Natalie Portman fo Té CasanNatalie Portman doesn't care for cruelty, that is cruelty to animals. Which is why she got involved with Té Casan & helped design a new line of shoes which promise to be cruelty free. According to Elle she told PETA that "All of my shoes are from Target or Stella McCartney" oh and she's also a vegan. We aren't fans PETA, mostly because of the crazy stunts they pull, but we can appreciate her intentions. It's just that the shoes aren't that exciting, they aren't bad but really would you be willing to pay a little extra to be boring but ethical?
Preview of Vincent & Vincent, A/W 08We've been adoring women's leather jackets for quite some time, but finding hot men's versions hasn't proved quite as easy. Enter Vincent & Vincent - designer label in leather goods from Perth, Australia. We were fortunate enough to be given a preview of the Autumn / Winter 2008 range - and all we have to say is WOW! The jackets are hand-tailored; made with Italian leather, carved horn buttons, and silk linings. Kirsty Doyle Autumn/Winter 2007I was lucky enough to stumble across Kirsty Doyle's 2007 A/W Collection. Kirsty was the winner of London's Project Catwalk (the English equivalent of Project Runway), I thought her collection was definitely worth sharing. Hopefully this will be the level at which we'll see the winners of all the Project x's aiming for!
More photos from the collection after the jump. Gail Sorronda and Yeojin Bae for TargetTarget Australia have so far brought us special collections from the likes of Stella McCartney, Josh Goot, and The Veronicas, and they've now announced who the next designer for their 'Designers for Target' range will be. Sorry, did we say designer? We meant designers. In a surprising move Target have announced not one, but two designers. So watch the shelves for two capsules from Australian designers Yeojin Bae and Gail Sorronda, both who were finalists in the Tiffany Designer Awards earlier this year, Bae taking the award home. We've already made ours picks from both lines. From Yeojin Bae (above) we've got our eye on the two dresses really playing up to the current season's trends; namely the mini-dress and the single shouldered, floral dress. Our middle two dresses seem equally perfect for the season, in particular we're keen to see how much fashionistas can make of a little white dress.
Loving Gucci's Spring-Summer 2008 collectionWe can't deny it, we simply loved Gucci's Spring-Summer 2008 collection from Milan Fashion Week. Hot colours and hotter cuts has made it one of the few collections shown so far that really stood out for all the right reasons. New Designer for Target October 1We've seen Stella McCartney, Josh Goot, and The Veronicas all design a 'Designers for Target' range. But who next? Jessie Hill 'Broken Windows' CollectionI was instantly drawn to Jessie Hill's latest collection; probably because it was influenced by Blade Runner, a film I've always been a fan of. The garments in the collection have a subtle androgyny, more based upon the 80s cyberpunk genre than the clothing in the film itself; aside from some 'Rachael' style puffed sleeves and frilled-out collars. The dresses are highly wearable, made from fabrics like hand-printed silks and Japanese microfibre cottons.
