Enter Vincent & Vincent - designer label in leather goods from Perth, Australia. We were fortunate enough to be given a preview of the Autumn / Winter 2008 range - and all we have to say is WOW! The jackets are hand-tailored; made with Italian leather, carved horn buttons, and silk linings. Kirsty Doyle Autumn/Winter 2007I was lucky enough to stumble across Kirsty Doyle's 2007 A/W Collection. Kirsty was the winner of London's Project Catwalk (the English equivalent of Project Runway), I thought her collection was definitely worth sharing. Hopefully this will be the level at which we'll see the winners of all the Project x's aiming for!
More photos from the collection after the jump. Gail Sorronda and Yeojin Bae for TargetTarget Australia have so far brought us special collections from the likes of Stella McCartney, Josh Goot, and The Veronicas, and they've now announced who the next designer for their 'Designers for Target' range will be. Sorry, did we say designer? We meant designers. In a surprising move Target have announced not one, but two designers. So watch the shelves for two capsules from Australian designers Yeojin Bae and Gail Sorronda, both who were finalists in the Tiffany Designer Awards earlier this year, Bae taking the award home. We've already made ours picks from both lines. From Yeojin Bae (above) we've got our eye on the two dresses really playing up to the current season's trends; namely the mini-dress and the single shouldered, floral dress. Our middle two dresses seem equally perfect for the season, in particular we're keen to see how much fashionistas can make of a little white dress.
Loving Gucci's Spring-Summer 2008 collectionWe can't deny it, we simply loved Gucci's Spring-Summer 2008 collection from Milan Fashion Week. Hot colours and hotter cuts has made it one of the few collections shown so far that really stood out for all the right reasons. New Designer for Target October 1We've seen Stella McCartney, Josh Goot, and The Veronicas all design a 'Designers for Target' range. But who next? Jessie Hill 'Broken Windows' CollectionI was instantly drawn to Jessie Hill's latest collection; probably because it was influenced by Blade Runner, a film I've always been a fan of. The garments in the collection have a subtle androgyny, more based upon the 80s cyberpunk genre than the clothing in the film itself; aside from some 'Rachael' style puffed sleeves and frilled-out collars. The dresses are highly wearable, made from fabrics like hand-printed silks and Japanese microfibre cottons.
Sienna Miller's twenty8twelve in Vogue UKSienna Miller definitely had her time in the spotlight as one of the most influencial celebrities on the fashion scene. Since the demise of the boho movement, she's fallen out of favour somewhat, but is still one to watch for papparazi, entertainment news sources and fashion followers. The creation of her twenty8twelve label, born out of a partnership with her fashion designer sister Savannah, will mark an interesting time for Sienna. If released two years ago, at the height of her fashion-icon status, the label would have been sure to generate much hype and sales. The question is, will that still happen now? Thankfully, judging by a new photoshoot for Vogue UK, the quality and design of the range looks good - and in that sense, it's a relief that it doesn't rely on hype to make it. We're betting it will still generate a following, particularly for those after the more unqiue pieces on offer.
Dreaming of summer with TotemWhen the photo of a blue patterned micro-mini tunic (below, right) hit my inbox the other day, I was in love. Summer may seem far away for those of us currently enduring the colder months, but it's a distant dream that's none the less worth having. Totem are a Brazilian label that have been stocked in Australia since September last year. Their collection uses beautiful, brightly-coloured prints that reflect the 'Carioca' lifestyle of Brazil - "light, upbeat, spirited and laidback." I'm looking forward to seeing more of Totem when their perfectly summery prints can be worn to compliment some perfectly summery weather.
Roberto Cavalli designs for the massesDesigner / store collaborations have become so common of late that it now takes something truly exciting to catch the attention of shoppers. Well, how about Roberto Cavalli for H&M? H&M made the announcement yesterday and it's one we didn't see coming. Going from celebrities like Madonna and Kylie to a big name Italian designer is likely to be a step in the right direction for H&M, who could never quite compete in the celebrity stakes thanks to Topshop's deal with Kate Moss. The "Roberto Cavalli at H&M" collection will be available in approximately 200 selected H&M stores worldwide for a limited period of time starting from November 8th 2007. Josh Goot a bad fit for TargetWell, the Josh Goot for Target Australia collection was released today - falling under the radar for a much more low-key and civilised opening than the previous Stella McCartney collection. I headed over to Target at lunchtime to find the racks partly devoid of smaller sizes, but for the most part still quite full. I found that the colours and fabrics were stunning, the pieces well-made and the prices very reasonable. And yet, I left empty-handed.
