The brand is one of Hong Kong's fashion powerhouses, which somehow has managed to trickle its way down the Pacific Rim all the way Down Under.
The brand offers its customers edgy, sleek and yet affordable clothing. T-shirts would normally range about $20 AUD when bought in Hong Kong. Fingers crossed it still translates well into the Australian market, especially with the state of the global economy. 5cm's style is exceptionally modern with and reflects well of local market needs, but it is no surprise that one may find the quality to be questionable especially with that price range. Although I suppose this fact may be irrelevant to it's targeted audience of young male adults. The good news is with Cole Mohr as the poster boy, it's the closest thing to having a Marc Jacobs store. Hurrah! Rumour has it that the Chapel St store would be opening up this month. It would be something worth checking out, especially for those who are just getting to the fashion game. Personally I'd go out of curiosity to see how the Fugita and Goku haired fan base would mix with curious locals. This could well be the start of a very interesting social experiment. Either way it would be a nice change to see locals pick up their fashion game and purge themselves of the calculated-but-CBF look and put on something more presentable. Five Centimetre (5cm) is located at Melbourne Central Shopping Centre and Chapel St. Prahran. You can check out some of the looks in 5cm's Spring/Summer 2008 collection by watching the video below.
