Proenza Schouler, accessorising boldly

Just like a man can never have enough ties in his drawer, a girl can seemingly never have enough bags in her closet. For argument sakes, let’s say a girl cannot have enough bags, shoes, belts and scarves, unless of course she’s well versed in the act of curation. It’s just the reality of life, if you happen to believe in those.

Obediently fuelling this annotation is Proenza Schouler’s spring 2012 accessory collection. It’s the kind of collection that’ll need no reasoning, justification or post-purchase guilt, once it’s finds a warm spot in your closet.

Classic luxe-leather holdalls to petite neon sling-clutches, the collection offers a variety for next season. Even though the colours are prone to passing for a fall collection, the quirky mix of snakeskin and tweed argue the least.

The craftsmanship of each piece, be it shoe, bag or belt, is admirable. Especially the unison of contrasting fabrics and materials like patent leather studded with metallic buttons and embroidered with colourful nylon threads.

The Schouler designers have fused the pieces in the collection with influences from African tribal and hippie-bohemian, while keeping the colour palette in the field of maturity, luxury and sensibility.
