Black and white candy stripes, teal hues and aqua blues; Alexi Freeman knows how to make a collection catch our eye.
Winter 2010 brings new plays on the label’s inimitable ‘flapper’ print; which now appears on foil-print tees, coats, and effortless batwing sweaters and dresses. Even the black and white leggings – which at first glance appear to be a simple stripe – are on closer inspection a tricky and highly striking reworking of the flapper motif.
As usual many of Alexi Freeman’s pieces walk the line between sporty and sophisticated, with wool jersey and sheer mesh espoused in an unusual – yet utterly harmonious – union. Tuxedo elements also come into play with some of the collection’s jackets, skirts and some divinely silhouetted culottes.
As always, Alexi’s pieces are unique enough in their detail and construction to make them stand out, and yet classic enough to stand the test of time. And, as always, definitely worth a peruse.
