Along with Fashionising.com's mission to see that luxury clothing once again comes to represent quality goods as opposed to populist labels, I've long been a proponent of both dandyism and Brit prep. In these two styles of men's dress lie a general desire for not only attention to detail, but a classic sense of dress and, more importantly, quality. So it should come as no surprise that British clothiers Bespoken have made something of a large impression on me.
With it's mixture of great design and better quality, Bespoken may equally grow on you. Touting clothing that is both designed and produced in England, Bespoken still lay claim to some great heritage;
Under the tutelage of the designers and pattern cutters at Turnbull & Asser - one of the most eminent shirtmakers in the world - the Bespoken journey began.
But don't for a minute assume that such a background sees them concentrate on a largely older audience. On the contrary, Bespoken's Autumn (Fall)/Winter 2009/2010 collection draws its inspiration from British society in the post-Second World War movement. In another word: mod. In a similar vein, their Spring/Summer 2009 collection featured traditional come backs, such as the club collar, but all with thoroughly young and modern cuts and cloths.
Tempted? Naturally. Those in the United Kingdom can indulge in Bespoken's wares at Harrod's, while those across the Atlantic in the United States need only head to Bloomingdales. Sadly that means for those of us currently outside of either countries, dabbling in the "uncompromised craftsmanship and quality" that Bespoken strives for may have to wait. Until that moment, however, you can indulge in their latest collection by clicking through the pictures below.
