For many people, the name Audrey Hepburn causes one iconic image to spring to mind: Audrey, as the capricious Holly Golightly, having breakfast at Tiffany’s in pearls and a black Givenchy gown.

Now, that very dress that featured in the classic 1961 film is going up for auction. Expected to fetch up to ?70,000, or $130,000 USD, the proceeds of the sale will go to the City of Joy – a charity which helps needy children in Calcutta.

The auction will take place at Christie’s on December 5 – anyone fancy a little black dress for Christmas?

Discuss the movie and its iconic fashions in the Breakfast at Tiffany’s forum thread.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
