Colour plays in important role in Camilla & Marc’s spring 2012 offering… so much so that it seemed surprising for Director Errol Rainey to exclude it from his video of the collection. The video, which you can view after the break, is nonetheless adept at conveying the mood of the clothing, achieved through the mirrored dance routines and tinkling piano of Yann Tiersen’s beautiful Sur Le Fil.
Though you can’t see from the black and white film, the palette of the collection is rich, vibrant, and botanical. There’s a distinct cocktail feel to it all be it in an ultra-feminine minidress or a masculinely tailored silk-linen suit or tuxedo jacket.
We’re told the inspirations driving the collection were rooted in two of the most influential decades of the past few seasons: the 60s and the 70s. Strong, confident and iconic were the women sitting in the designers’ minds when they created this particular portrait: Ali McGraw, Bianca Jagger, Charlotte Rampling and Faye Dunaway amoung them.
