How To Wear: Gold

Written by Tania Braukamper

One of Autumn's biggest trends sees black and gold reunited in plush fabrics and decadent detail. Think deep black velvet and suede, gold threading and brocade. For something more suitable for daytime wear, opt for simple fabrics or demin set off by gold accessories. If you're on the sunny side of the world, you can easily pick the trend up and bring it into Summer mode, with pieces that will carry over to Autumn and Winter.

DO:
- Embroidery, beading and brocade
- Bold gold jewellery, like gold chains, solid gold cuffs, and gold belt buckles
- Gold leather accessories, like sexy high-heeled shoes, evening bags and soft leather belts
- Sparkle

DON'T
- Cheap sparkle
- Hard and shiny accessories in cheap foil-like materials
- Over-do it. Top to toe gold is much more difficult to pull off.

On the runway - YSL, Balmain and Ellie Saab:

And Autumn's Ralph Lauren evening bag, and Dolce and Gabanna belt and dress:

Ralph Lauren also brought us the beautiful Emboidered Blazer:

For glamour in the evening, try Christian Louboutin's Josephine Platforms. Jewellery options are boundless: we love Roberto Cavalli's Brocade Bangle and Gucci's Horse-bit Bracelet.

There aren't too many alpha-females out there and, though she might deny it, Tania Braukamper certainly exudes their qualities. A keen eye, a focused approach, and a wardrobe spanning three rooms have made her one of the savviest of dressers. But it's not all couture for Tania, earning her fashionista credentials she'll frequently be seen on the town in a one-off, vintage dress and a pair of Gucci heels.

She says: Vintage will never go out of style
We say: Does that include vintage 80s?
