If I said this was an advert for American Apparel I’m sure you’d believe me. It does, after all, have all the markings of one: a fusion of reality and the unpretentiousness that the brand tries to promote itself as representing. Admittedly, it’s not as provocative as some of their ads, but with so many fashion pictorials featuring lashings of nudity nowadays, a lot of American Apparel ads have seemed tame of late.

But instead of being an advert this is a self-style picture. The kind that you’ll find on so many personal fashion blogs. But it’s a self-style picture taken with far more perfection than most. And one that is spot on for spring 2010 with its mixture of an American Apparel bodysuit, with sheer detailing, and high waisted shorts.

Late one Oxford night Daniel P Dykes set about creating a fashion publication that would go someway to being an arbiter on fashion as it appeals to the emerging power generations: those who don't remember a world without the Internet and for whom work plays second fiddle to pleasure. And so Fashionising.com was born as a publication for those who were focussed not just on fashion's trends, but on society's too, and how those trends could all go to heighten the art of living. Hence, Daniel sees a future where, for those young at heart, both fashion and style are grounded in traditional quality, but with a youthful, sensualised edge. Daniel is Fashionising.com's Editor in Chief and Chairman.
