Sylvio Giardina is a very creative person with so-called “double identity” – being an experienced designer of haute couture and a visual artist. This successful synergy of fashion and art is clearly visible through the concept of his eponymous brand.
As he proved before with his fall 2011 collection, the designs have the innovative feel of visual art implemented on each ensemble. The style of Sylvio Giardina resembles quite experimental, sculptural forms with a chic and elegant signature. These reinventions on the structure of fashion design associated with unconventional use of fabrics originate a new definition of style with captivating ideas and a fresh touch.
The latest collection for the spring 2012 season is entitled “NUPTUS” because of the inspirations taken from traditional bridal concepts presented in a futuristic way. The collection is a response opposing the traditional and conventional standard of the fashion circuit with a successful preview on the third edition of the LIMITED/UNLIMITED exhibition project by AltaRoma and Silvia Venturini Fendi. As the leading concept is influenced by the lightweight transparency of veils and the ever-changing dynamism of clouds, the forms of the outfits depict softness of lines with the sculptural deconstructions and sinuous volumes of the apparel.
The main intention of the designer is to redefine the beauty of the female body with its shapes through the comfort and freedom of movement. That is why he uses military–inspired styles applied on the practical collection of tops and bottoms, though still elegant in their statement. Apart from innovative constructions, the materials used for the collection double the effect of fluidity with the polythene foam and jersey on the rich palette of white, black, orange, copper, green and light blue. The drops of Swarovski encrusted into the ensembles awards the touch of exclusivity.
