Topshop’s first Melbourne collection

Update: it’s been reported that the Holiday 2011 collection will be amoung the first pieces stocked at the forthcoming Melbourne Topshop store.

When the Topshop girl is on Holiday, at least for the Holiday 2011 season, there’s only one activity she’s sinking her time into: partying. The words youthful glamour spring to mind. The Topshop Holiday collection dabbles in young, modern updates on roaring twenties fashion from beaded pieces to fur stoles, culminating in a yellow feathered flapper dress. If you wanted to subtly inject some flapper-chic into your wardrobe without looking costumed, but you weren’t sure how, perhaps this look book will provide an answer.

Elsewhere in the collection it’s more to the 1930s – most notably an emerald gown that recalls Keira Knightley’s in Atonement – or, in case all the vintage-inpsired pieces fail to captivate, contemporary biker-chic. Sparkly leggings and leather jackets are still staple Topshop fare.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
