There are collections that you can’t help but admire from a distance, but know you’d probably never wear; then there are collections that provide wardrobe basics so practical you know they’re more of a requirement than a feat of artistry. Australian label Marvin borders both sides: detailed enough to be beautiful, yet versatile and affordable enough to be more than justified as purchases.

Marvin’s collection for autumn / winter 2012 takes the theme of 1920s revival and gives it a distantly modern wearability. Inspired by the “smoke-hazed, jazz-infused city lights of Paris” Marvin’s collection takes Art Deco-inspired metal beading, digitally printed sand-washed silks and textured modernist-inspired European suiting and weaves it all together in a way that transcends the day/night wardrobe boundary.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person.
