The Victoria’s Secret Designer Collection markets itself as being exquisite and delicate, two things their standard product ranges quite often are not. Sexy, colourful, playful – yes. But exquisite and delicate, no. So to distinguish the Designer Collection from the others, the marketing effort also has to be different. The campaigns and look books have to move away from the sexy, colourful and playful. It makes perfect sense, then, to cast a model like Barbara Palvin. Someone to whom the adjectives exquisite and delicate equally apply (if not more so).
Thankfully in their softly beautiful campaign images of Barbara Palvin, Victoria’s Secret has managed to keep the rampant photoshopping in check, keeping Barbara’s natural beauty as much of a focus as the lingerie.
