Some things are fairly constant in the world of swimwear: string bikinis and kaftans and cover-ups. But swimwear trends evolve like all others, and there’s no better place to get a sense of what’ll be hot next summer than on the runways of Miami. There were covetable summer looks aplenty, but we’ve decided to single out just a few favourites.

In no particular order, here are 10 great looks from Miami swim fashion week.

1. Sexy + sporty at Suboo.

Sexy and sporty collided on the Suboo runway, where cutaways and bright scuba colours were given a slick, modern interpretation.

Part swimsuit, part bodycon mini dress – and with a Bond Girl-esque utility buckle in between. There’s a slick sex appeal to this simple black number.

4. The ruffled bust at Luli Fama.

An interesting detail goes a long way, but especially so when it also flatters. The flounchy mesh frill on the bust of this Luli Fama bikini does just that, while the multi-string bottoms add something extra.

5. Braces ahoy at Chloe.

Chloe Swimwear managed to merge two unsuspecting garments into a new hybrid: the bikini and braces. Sporty and piped in a contrast colour, you can’t miss this unusual and yet wearable outfit.

6. Exotic prints at Mara Hoffman.

Inherently speaking of balmy nights and burning hot days are exotic prints in bold and bright colours. Mara Hoffman’s collection was filled with them: kaleidoscopic, geometric and at times a little psychedelic.

7. Soft prints and frills at Maaji.

Clashes of print in soft, feminine colours blurred the line between swimwear and lingerie at Maaji. Some pieces included lace panels or ruffles for an even more dainty effect.
