Top 10 wishlist from New York

There are those breathtaking, embellished gowns fit for royalty and red carpets (you can find our picks of 10 such amazing evening dresses from New York here) – and then there are the outfits that strike you as wearable enough to actually add them to your real-world wishlist.

As far as the New York fashion week runways went for spring 2014, there were so many of both types of outfit that it’s hard to whittle it down to a few. But there’s nothing quite like a “top 10″ roundup to force me to try.

And so, in no particular order of preference, here are 10 picks from the runways of New York that I’d gladly add to my wishlist.

The right amount of minimalism, the right amount of soft, feminine detail: this white lace-trimmed dress from Jason Wu hits all the right notes.

The general rule for floor-length dresses with thigh high slits is that they’re the kind you’d wear on a red carpet, or at least to a cocktail party. Proving that’s not necessarily the case was Yigal Azrouël. This digital print number had a sporty casualness that would make it suitable for day or night.

If Cushnie et Ochs know one thing, it’s how to do sleek and sexy. With sporty strap details and sexy cutaways, all balanced by a below-the-knee hemline, this dress is New York attitude at its best.

You have to hand it to Nonoo. The idea of sheer pants and a relaxed knit sounds scary, but in this divine lilac they will surely have converted many a non-believer.
