Future tribal Deco gold: Dora Abodi

Dora Abodi has an attitude of “no fast fashion”, and it’s obvious as soon as you look at her collection look book for fall 2012. Here is, after all, a collection that’s both innovative yet on-trend, and one marked by fine details and craftsmanship. The first look – a gold and black almost armour-like dress – could on the one hand be something you’d picture clinging to the body of a Eunuch fanning Cleopatra, on the other something that might have been dreamed up in the Art Deco era. Other dresses are body-con, peplumed, gently shimmering with a metallic glamour; exotically futuristic in their shapes and details.

Feather-covered dresses hint at the tribal, swirling another trend into the mix. But while many of Abodi’s dresses are statement pieces that you wouldn’t get all that much wear out of every day, her clever inclusion of striking removable collars offers an entry-level investment that’s more than alluring.
