I love a good portmanteau as much as the next person, but I’m not going to attempt to pronounce this one out loud: kamenskayakononova. Luckily as a purveyor of the written word I don’t have to. It’s the melding of the surnames of two designers, Natalia Kamenskaya and Olesya Kononova. Together they become the brand kamenskayakononova and, though I’ve only newly been introduced to their work it seems logical to conclude, they create wonderful things.
I love their spring 2012 wind-blown silhouettes. A glimpse of thigh is rare but backs, shoulders, arms are sensually revealed. It’s a distinctly modern update on 1920s flapper fashion if you consider the dropped waists and unstructured shapes, while the palette is firmly planted in line with spring 2012′s colour trends.
Filled with the kind of draping that you can always feel good about wearing, you can view all of kamenskayakononova’s spring 2012 collection at the gallery above.
