Models have perfected the art of moonlighting. When they’re not on the catwalk, they’re appearing in movies, satiating their social calendars and/ or fulfilling the title of Professional Muse. When you’re Australian beauty, Nicole Trunfio, you’re somehow managing to do all of this, whilst living overseas, and attending acting school, and designing your own collection. And did we mention she’s yet to hit thirty?

Following in the footsteps of other Aussie multi-taskers — Miranda Kerr, Elle MacPherson, Rachael Taylor, the list goes on — Nicole Trunfio is giving the girls a run for their buck with her new jewelry collection, Trunfio Jewels. Having dabbled in jewelry design before, this time round she’s more focused, more particular and much more surrounded by her industry, residing in New York City. Simple, classic and “empowering to women”, the collection bases itself around the pyramid: strong, defined, timeless.

Her collection, comprised of primarily bangles and rings in gold and in silver has been a long-time coming and a thought about process. Talking to us of the line, “3 years ago I was thinking about it, 2 years ago I was designing it, and 1 year I’ve dedicated to the execution”. All of the pieces have been locally crafted — local being in her new nest, New York — after a process of trial and error to find the right person for the job. When asked what encouraged her to take to jewelry, she said her friends, fundamentally, and what they would wear. When asked what inspired her designs, she gave a more interesting insight on architecture and construction, and enthused about shadows cast and created by the likes of Richard Serra’s works.

Housed and hosted at East Hampton’s boutique, Blue & Cream, locals celebrated the launch in their beach-chic attire and breezy attitudes to spending. The piece that captured the most attention was not surprisingly the Trunfio Universe bracelet; conceptualizing the collection and adopting the sentiment of fine jewelry, the bracelet’s versatility presents itself through an interchangeable crystal attachment forming the closure. With the intention of introducing new attachments each season, the clever design has high flying aims is of “satisfying the ever-changing whim of a woman”.

We’ll be sure to bring you a look at the full collection soon.
