Mandy Moore come-back with the sheer trend

Written by Daniel P Dykes on 27.10.08

We've always had a soft spot for Mandy Moore, Tania even more-so. Sadly it has to be conceded that her sense of style went through a rough patch whether it was for the wrong fashion picks, or simply gaining weight. In fact, she's only appeared on our radar once, that time it was for a very sexy vamp look.

But with a new hair style, and a sexy-as-hell use of the sheer clothing trend this may just be a Mandy Moore come-back.

Christina Ricci: Backless dress and tattooed?

Written by Daniel P Dykes on 23.10.08

When discussing alternatives to cleavage as a fashion accessory in the forums, many a fashioner hit upon the backless fashion trend as the next best option. Pert, perfect chests not required; and it can have a definite element of elegance.

What then of Christina Ricci? Backless dress, but a tattooed back?

Malin Akerman; a little too much sheer

Written by Daniel P Dykes on 14.10.08

Amongst the bevy of celebrities at the opening of Filth and Wisdom in New York City was Swiss/Canadian model and actress Malin Akerman; and while I'm normally all for the it, Akerman's dress verged on being a little too sheer.

The French don't do things by halves

They do them by pairs.

See through clothing at Paris Fashion Week breasts

Or at least that appears to be the case on Anne Valérie Hash's Spring/Summer 2009 catwalk at Paris Fashion Week where 2008/2009's see-through/sheer trend was taken to the extreme.

Francesco Scognamiglio's single breast not a trend

Written by Daniel P Dykes on 24.09.08

Forgive me for stating the obvious.

One-shoulder fashion may be a major part of 2008 fashion trends. It's even joined the list of 2009 fashion trends.

The same can't be said for the 'single breast'.

The look debuted on Francesco Scognamiglio's Spring Summer 2009 runway in the form of this pearl-coloured, bow dress.

There are a number of other trends you'll find on Francesco Scognamiglio's catwalk, however; key amongst them the sheer and ruffle trends.

Accost polo dress by Christian Francis Roth

Accost polo dress by Francis Spring/Summer 2009When I labelled Francis' Spring/Summer 2009 collection as Gossip Girl worthy I also questioned the motivation behind the catwalk's last look (pictured right).

"A parody? A wink? A nod? A swipe?" I asked.

I'm now leaning towards parody.

Not providing an answer, but providing more details on the polo dress, the design house has posted in our fashion forums to let us know that the dress is the "Accost polo dress"; a clever play on Lacoste if ever there was one.

Sadly they've also told us the Accost dress isn't going to be produced for sale.

Alexi Freeman Grecian Decollete Dress

Written by Tania Braukamper on 12.09.08

If you made it to High Fashion, High Tea at MSFW last weekend, odds are you will remember this dress. Made from the most luscious hand-painted silk jersey fabric, Alexi Freeman's Grecian Decollete Dress falls elegantly across the body and feels delightful against the skin.

This gorgeous dress is also one of 12 finalists of the Caulfield Classic People's Choice Awards. It may not be the most obvious choice for a spring racing outfit; with its edgy black, white and gold prints, and Grecian-inspired cut; but that's precisely what makes it such a stand out entrant. It's up against other great outfits from the likes of Yeojin Bae, T.L Wood, and Saxonne. Cast your vote on which dress should win the award, and you'll also go into the draw to win heaps of great prizes yourself; including members passes to the Caulfield Cup and a $500 Chadstone shopping center voucher.
