You have to hand it to Daisy Lowe, she knows how to steal the spotlight. Sitting front row at Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2010 would be enough for some people, but when you're a socialite-cum-model there's a need to be photographed. So, naturally, you'd turn to the one fashion trend guaranteed to make that happen: underwear as outerwear. But even that's not enough for Lowe. To ensure that her image spreads far and wide it's not just any underwear that she donned, but a pair of knicker-style-shorts from the very collection she was there to see.
If there's one thing I can say about The Lake & Stars Spring/Summer 2010 collection, other than that its quality simply means that to not wear it as outerwear would be a tragedy, is that I want it. All of it.
Got to love these Kiki De Montparnasse Garter Tanks. This is such a simple yet sexy way to indulge in the lingerie as outerwear trend: we'd be adding jeans or denim shorts, or some killer hosiery if you want to take the lingerie look a little further.

We've already seen Agyness Deyn make her contribution to 2010's short black hairstyle trend, now she follows up with her taken on the exposed lingerie trend.
With styling worthy of an over-sexed 20th Century military regime, lingerie house Agent Provocateur have launched their New World Order collection. Ignoring the superhero motifs that have influenced other parts of the collection, Agent Provocateur instead turned to over the knee boots and leather for the launch.
We've spotted Taylor Momsen in her underwear so it only stands to reason that when Lindsay Lohan took her seat next to Momsen at G Star's Spring 2010 catwalk during New York Fashion Week, she too was wearing the lingerie as outwear fashion trend by way of exposed stay-ups.
If hacking a pair of lace tights isn't your thing, then turn instead to Wildfox Couture and partake in the lingerie as outwear fashion trend with a pair of their lace shorts.
Mixing vintage with modern, the debut collection from Marion Liese - titled A Dark Romance - is all at once luxurious yet minimal. Based around stretch silk and cotton mesh, these are pieces that could quite easily transform from underwear to outerwear. Marion Liese is one of the finalists in the Debut program of Melbourne 2009's Fashion Exposed fair.
Here's another lingerie collection that warrants a mention, if for nothing else than for its ability to turn highly functional underwear into a gorgeously soft and sexy lookbook. The La Perla Studio collection for Autumn(Fall)/Winter 2009 features seamless pieces in nude and black that slightly raise the bar on how good seamless lingerie can actually look.
Eres lingerie made a good move in scoring Lara Stone for their latest campaign. Not only has she the perfect body for modelling underwear, but she's just the sort of name that will get them plenty of attention. Lara looks fabulous in Eres' Autumn(Fall)/Winter 2009 campaign shots - her usual bed-hair replaced with curls, giving the shots a softer feel. Some of the pieces would be a good fit for the lingerie as outerwear trend, in particular the black lace bodysuit pictured below.
