Mikhail Gorbachev for Louis Vuitton

We've had an ongoing discussion for some time now about the problems facing the Louis Vuitton brand. The use of particular celebrities in campaigns, the overuse of the LV monogram, and the effect of chav fakes are all factors in the diminishing reputation of the brand.

Well, Louis Vuitton have chosen a bold and interesting path in combating their brand problem - a very serious Leibovitz-shot campaign featuring Russian politician Mikhail Gorbachev. The image is striking; classic; and far removed from the 'bling' campaigns which have dominated Louis Vuitton's advertising in recent years.

He may have ended the political supremacy of the Communist Party... but can he bring credibility back to the Louis Vuitton brand? It's definitely a start.

There aren't too many alpha-females out there and, though she might deny it, Tania certainly exudes their qualities. A keen eye, a focused approach, and a wardrobe spanning three rooms have made her one of the savviest of dressers. But it's not all couture for Tania, earning her fashionista credentials she'll frequently be seen on the town in a one-off, vintage dress and a pair of Gucci heels. She says: Vintage will never go out of style We say: Does that include vintage 80s?
