Doutzen Kroes in a black bandage dress @ LMFF

Supermodel Doutzen Kroes looked amazing in a black Herve Leger bandage dress and tan clutch at last night's L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) show. The Dutch beauty (frequently seen on the major international runways, as well as totally stealing the spotlight in the Victoria's Secret catalogue I got in the mail last week) has been lured to Melbourne for the festival.

One can easily be forgiven for thinking that mass production results in greater choices for clothes. But take a closer look at those varied options and you'll see that they are practically all the same. For example the humble t-shirt; perhaps one of the most mass produced clothing items. Just in the last couple of years we have seen a myriad of fluorescents, vintage prints, Asian fonts, stripes, spots, logos, V-necks, crew necks, boat necks and more. Every season it's just another case of "same same, but different". Even that was done to death.

With Art Deco a trend again, what better time for Keira Knightley to auction off her gorgeous emerald green gown from Atonement.

I'd already praised the costuming in Atonement and you may also recall that the green dress was voted the best film costume of all time in a magazine poll.

The dress is up for grabs at the Clothes Off Our Back charity site and is currently at $6,000. Wouldn't you just love to win it?

OK so it seems like a fairly superficial question. So I'll start off by saying "congratulations" to Miss Alba on her apparent pregnancy. Being, though, that we've been watching the contrasting pregnancy fashions of the ever stylish Nicole Richie and the not so impressive Christina Aguilera with interest, I'll go back to my original question: will Jessica Alba be a Christina, or a Nicole?

Nicole Richie still fashionable and pregnant

We've already marveled at how well Nicole Richie has succeeded at staying fashionable while pregnant. Stepping out recently in head-to-toe black, bar for an inkling of red on the soles of her trademark Louboutins and matching patent red bag, she looked more the starlet than ever.

Perhaps Nicole's latest outfit will restore Daniel's lost faith in pregnancy fashion, which was sparked by Christina Aguilera.

Kate Moss and the Queen Most Glamourous

It can't honestly be said that they have lots in common, but here's something else which brings hypermodel Kate Moss and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II together: both have featured on British Vogue's "Definitive List of Today's Glamorous Women."

Heaping praise upon our enduring Monarch, Vogue praised the Queen for being "as glamorous in her brogues and headscarf in Balmoral as she is wearing the crown jewels."

The list also includes many names you'll be familiar with, such as the likes of Lily Donaldson and Naomi Campbell. In defining glamour as "how you wear something, not about what you wear" and not being able to "buy glamour" it's not surprise that there are many names you may not be familiar with, such as Princess Rosario Saxe-Coburg and Dame Vivien Duffield.

Christina Aguilera not fashionably pregnant

As odd as it might sound I've always been thankful that as a male I get to avoid the whole pregnancy thing. It sounds laughably prattish (and I'm sure I just went up a few notches on the feminist hit list) but even when I decide the world is ready for some little Daniels (if ever) I'll never really do the pregnancy thing. I'll never have to change an entire wardrobe, or worry about my post-birth weight. It simply won't be a concern. And for that I'm thankful. It just sounds awfully bothersome.

But then along came Nicole Richie, semi-reformed wild-child, and the society blogs went wild. Not because she's pregnant before marriage (magazines do no such moralising in this century), no, because she's managed to take it all in her stride and look bloody amazing doing it.

There's no such luck for Christina Aguilera, however.
