Somehow Limedrop‘s pop-up space at Melbourne Central manages to defy the usual ho-hum nothingness of a shopping centre setting. A little glass ‘greenhouse’ sitting independently away from the other stores, it’s cosy yet uncluttered, and not without a modern kind of charm. Partners in crime Clea and Nathan Price are the brains, hearts, and hands behind the label – two people as friendly as you’ll ever meet, and passionate about bringing their little piece of cool to Melbourne’s discerning fashion crowds.
At Friday’s launch I eyed some beautiful horse print mini-dresses (I think I may just need to go back and try one on), sipped on Chambord, and observed Facehunter Yvan Rodic doing his thing (he’s in Melbourne doing book signings, if you want to catch him this Thursday). While the Limedrop concept store is popping up for Summer 2010/2011 only, we’re hopeful that a more permanent city presence will be on the cards soon.
