He may have been a self-confessed “disaster” when it came to formal fashion photography, but there is none the less much inspiration to be drawn from Ken Russel’s lost London photographs. Taken in earlier part of the 1950s, the photos are striking, quirky and unmistakably English.

The exhibition Ken Russell’s Lost London Rediscovered: 1951-1957 is at Proud Central, London WC2 until August 21, 2007.
