As far as international cities go Melbourne is by no means a large one, and that’s a fact that translates heavily into its retail landscape. Shop under the roofs of some of the big-name fashion houses in the city and you’ll find stores dominated by accessories with only a smattering of clothes, if any at all, to be seen. So it is that it’s a city where most every fashion store can be considered boutique in size and multi-level retail spots are very few an far between.

Swimwear Galore flies rather in the face of that. Despite stocking a product range that is both limited in its scope (the company’s name gives that much away) and its application (are there many fashion businesses as truly seasonal as swimwear retail?) they’ve managed to make their seventh store rather something of a supermarket for swimwear, with your 2011 / 2012 swimwear choice likely to be found somewhere between the walls and the racks.

Normally when a store is this large and specialised it’s a problem, with it being a sign that the buyers lack focus and customers face choice paralysis. Oddly for a swimwear store the reverse is true, so personal is the choice of buying. Frankly, it must be a pain in the arse for women to pick out their new swimsuit for the season when all the variables from function to form to flattery are considered. A store this size then, with so many options, negates the choice paralysis and offers up the convenience of a one-stop-shop where the sole one-piece or two-piece you need to get you through summer is almost certain to be found.

Swimwear Galore‘s third retail spot is now open just outside Melbourne, Victoria at 825 Dandenong Road, Malvern. It stocks pieces from the likes of Seafolly and Jets, and caters to women, men and children. You can see a selection of their current summer season from their launch-party catwalk by clicking on the thumbnails above and browsing through the gallery.

Late one Oxford night Daniel P Dykes set about creating a fashion publication that would go someway to being an arbiter on fashion as it appeals to the emerging power generations: those who don't remember a world without the Internet and for whom work plays second fiddle to pleasure. And so Fashionising.com was born as a publication for those who were focussed not just on fashion's trends, but on society's too, and how those trends could all go to heighten the art of living. Hence, Daniel sees a future where, for those young at heart, both fashion and style are grounded in traditional quality, but with a youthful, sensualised edge. Daniel is Fashionising.com's Editor in Chief and Chairman.
