Dolce & Gabbana’s collections evoke memories; their men’s spring 2014 collection, surprise of all surprises, evoking the memory of a Sicily that may only now exist in the realms of fiction and fashion, if it ever existed at all. Last night’s after party for the same collection thankfully bypassed all that – old men on accordions wouldn’t have been flavour of the night as the Belvedere flowed. But that’s not to say there wasn’t something a little revivalist to it all as gold ticker tape fell from the ceiling, and a Tina Turner cover-artist took to the stage. 1970s, much?
