Debut at Fashion Exposed winners, Melb 2009

It's early on a Sunday morning when I arrive, a little late, at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. The Fashion Exposed fair is set up and ready to go with dozens of stalls exhibiting clothes, shoes, bags... you name it, it's there. It's the first time Fashionising.com have been invited to judge the Debut competition, which gives emerging designers a kick-start into the industry, and we're thrilled to be involved. I'm handed a clipboard and pen before being introduced to the other fashion-savvy judges: Kate Vandermeer, Sprinkle, Leah from Milly Sleeping, and the ever-lovely Evita from FASHIONTREND Magazine. We roam the floor looking for the best and brightest in each category, diligently marking each designer on a range of criteria before sitting down for conversation, coffee, and eventual consensus.

Melbourne Spring Fashion Week (MSFW) is just around the corner - and as well as our very own High Fashion, High Tea, there are a number of other events we're very much looking forward to attending.

We love the concept behind the upcoming Eco Luxe Fashion Exposé (ELFE). Last week's Rock a Frock Launch party at Skatt in Mount Hawthorn was a vast source of untapped energy. The evening was in celebration of the new online shopping concept, Rock a Frock, which went live on Thursday 8th of August, 2009.

Seven Souls: Bushfire Appeal Parade, Melbourne

Next Friday, the 19th of June, Melbourne-based label Seven Souls are hosting a special event that is worth a peek for several reasons. First and foremost, the event is in support of those who lost homes and loved ones in the devastating bushfires that swept through Victoria earlier this year. And as if that isn't reason enough to grab yourself a ticket, the parade will take place at the unique surrounds of the Pentridge Prison development precinct.

LiveStyle 2009 Fashion & Music Festival, Melbourne

With L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) only just over, we thought we'd have a while to wait before we could look forward to another big fashion event in Melbourne. As it turns out, we were wrong - with a major new concept being launched this coming weekend.

Taking place at Central Pier, Docklands from 17-19 April 2009, LiveStyle will marry music and fashion; with runway shows, DJ performances, workshops and plenty more on the schedule. The thing we're most looking forward to though is the 50+ pop-up boutiques which will be selling sale stock and new season collections direct to the public.
