Many girls (and guys) are avidly and anxiously awaiting the release of the big screen version of Sex and the City (see the full forum thread of images from the movie here). Well renowned as being an inspiration for it's costume and styling, the TV series saw many trends shoot to mainstream consumption, and had women world-wide pining for the clothes, lifestyles, and fashion-senses of the show's four main characters.
But will the Sex and the City movie live up to this reputation?

If you didn't catch the memo in our fortnightly fashion newsletter, we're giving away 30 double passes for Australian members to see The Jane Austen Book Club. The movie stars Emily Blunt, Maria Bello, Hugh Dancy, Maggie Grace, Kathy Baker and Amy Brenneman, and will definitely be worth checking out.
Visit the forum thread for details on how to enter.
Six book club members, six Austen books, six interwoven story lines over six months in the busy modern setting of Sacramento, where city and suburban sprawl meet natural beauty. While the contemporary stories never slavishly parallel the Austen plots, the six characters find echoes, predictions, warnings and wisdom about their own trajectories within Austen's beloved narratives...
The film opens in Australia on January 31, 2008. Visit www.JaneAustenBookClub.com.au to see the trailer.
I went to to see Atonement last night. Now, I don't usually write about films here but the costume design in Atonement was so beautiful, I just had to bring it to your attention. Keira Knightley's Cecilia looked amazing - in everything from a 30s style swimsuit and cap to a striking emerald green dress accessories by diamond hair-pin and diamond cuff.

I can't imagine anyone but Keira Knightley playing Cecilia - the delicate bone structure, the big and classically beautiful features, work so well. She exudes the qualities of the archetypal 1930s woman as we think of her - soft in looks but strong in character.
Making resolutions is part of the fun of entering a brand new year! Even if we never actually stick to them... hmm, but I digress. There are times when we can stick to them and the year is all the more better for it. Resolutions can be about all sorts of things, whether it's to do with your health, your social life, your work or your education. But we here are all about fashion, so if you're looking to add a few fashion-related resolutions to your New Year's list we thought we'd give you some ideas.
Admittedly our shopping for Christmas isn't quite done, but that doesn't stop us looking forward to the Boxing Day sales.
Second only to the mid-year stock take sales, Boxing Days sales are an opportunity to fill out your wardrobe with some very select pieces, at some very special prices.
If you're braving the crowds this Boxing Day, be sure to keep an eye on our fashion sales forum where we're already tracking the Boxing Day sales. If you know of any, please be sure to add them to the list!
If you're keeping your eye on the front page of Fashionising.com, or a calendar, you'll be well aware that Christmas is less than 4 sleeps away. With 2007 seeing us celebrate our first Christmas, we've been bringing you a fashionable Christmas gift guide each day since late November. We've also brought you Fashionising.com's first pictorial; Escape.

The amount of work that has gone into Escape, it's promotion of Fashionising, and the fact that we have a newsletter going out this weekend, has meant that we're a little beat today. So instead of us recommending gifts, or impart similar knowledge, you can consider Escape our gift to you our loyal member and fashioniser. But if you are after some Christmas gift ideas for the weekend, why not look back on our recommendations since November?
Christmas doesn't have to be about spending heaps on luxurious gifts (hey I said doesn't have to be, it still can!) But if you want to give a gift that's personal and meaningful, there's plenty you can do. Here are 5 ideas for creating a personal gift on a shoestring.

Customise this: Recycled Cotton Canvas Tote Bags $8.99 each; American Apparel Unisex Tees
$9.95 each; and American Apparel T-shirt Dresses
$8.99 each, from Amazon.
There's nothing quite like a pre-Christmas sale. You're already heavily in the mood to shop, but you're not always thinking of purchasing gifts for others, and a sale provides the perfect excuse to think of number one.
Here's a good one for Melburnians: Olrik Denmark are running a pre-Christmas clearance sale on some very hot labels. Head into their Chapel Street or Melbourne Central stores for up to 50% off current season stock of Le Silla, SHY, Rich & Skinny, Billi Bi, Barracuda, Siwy Denim, True Religion, and Debut.
A magazine subscription may seen a bit of a ho-hum gift, but there are times when it can be just right. Consider that getting a parcel once a month with a fantastic fashion magazine is actually quite a great thing - and many can appreciate the joy that comes with it.
So, without further ado, here are my top 5 picks on women's fashion magazines to buy subscriptions to as gifts.

With Christmas just around the corner the less organised shoppers (ourselves included) are finally getting our act together. So if you're equally as late as ourselves, smile knowing that those who shopped months earlier didn't get to take advantage of these offers from Beauty.com.
Happy shopping!
