Of course, if you want to catch Alexi Freeman's Spring/Summer 2008/2009 collection in the flesh, along with designs from the likes of Thurley and Daniel Avakian, then make sure you don't miss High Fashion, High Tea during fashion week!
If fashion retail could be compared to a game of chess, then Australian department store David Jones last moved into a position one might consider check. No, they haven't won their battle against MYER and its middle market, but in bringing supermodel Miranda Kerr on board as it's face, and organising what can only be described as the country's most professional and effective consumer based event, David Jones have moved themselves into an enviable position.
So it was that last night I found myself in an enviable position. A guest of David Jones at their Spring/Summer 2008/2009 launch in Melbourne's Town Hall, having chatted with Kerr earlier in the day could guarantee one thing: all eyes would be on her. To hell with the clothing, the A through Z listers such as myself - the hype, the buzz, and the energy would all revolve around the girl from the country who's made it big in New York.
The program for 2008's Melbourne Spring Fashion Week in now online, and it's a busy one!
With catwalks from the likes of White Suede, Alpha60, and Gail Sorronda, and special events such as days out at the races and, of course, Fashionising.com's High Fashion, High Tea, it's a calendar of events guaranteed to entertain.
Hosted with Midnight Fashion, this year's High Fashion, High Tea will be held on Saturday, 6 September at Trunk in Melbourne.
For all the fabrics, intricate sewing and textures, fashion remains a visual art. And who are we to stop you visualising? Here are some of most popular fashion magazine editorials of July 2008.
Remember this recent Katie Holmes fashion disaster? I was questioning whether the "baggy-jeans-bunched-in-at-the-ankles" look was past of a costume for a TV appearance. Well, apparently it was not so.

A little while ago we told you that Linda Evangelista would be returning for Prada, and we also told you that we would bring you the shots from the campaign as they become available. So here they are - keep an eye out for these in the magazines in the next few months.

Look out after the jump for the rest of the shots.
Kate Moss' blow glow has faded.
Gisele Bundchen has Victoria's Secret well behind her, though her shoot for V magazine has done her no harm.
So here we are, more than half way through 2008 and I'm still left wonder: who in God's name is this year's 'it' girl?

Oh dear. All I can say is, I hope Katie Holmes is in costume for her latest TV guest-spot on Eli Stone. Or at least for a remake of Dynasty... Either way, I don't think the whole baggy-jeans-bunched-in-at-the-ankles look is going to take off... nor the snakeskin-sandals-over-socks look.
August 2008 hasn't been quite as outstanding a month for magazine editorials as July was. (If you received our last newsletter you'd have seen a selection of June/July's amazing photo shoots). But one that certainly is worth checking out is Coco Rocha's shoot for Japanese Vogue.
And the influence of the Internet upon the fashion industry continues to grow.
WWD reports that Gucci's Cruise 2009 collection runway will be webcast live.
