The fall collections at Sao Paulo fashion week aren’t quite like those in New York or Europe: there’s must more skin on show, just not quite as much as during the summer collections. With the collections just presented, you’re still likely to have born early witness to fall 2014’s fashion trends in the making, though presented with a warmer climate slant.

And from the casual and cool to the intricately evening-ready, Sao Paulo had plenty on offer. Because you might well have missed some of the best of it, we’ve rounded up 10 highlights from the collections after the break.

It was winter boho in flowing, floral pieces with strategic slits and keyholes at Teca by Helo – all to charming and romantic effect.

There’s nothing quite like cosy knits for autumn, and there’s no better way to make them sexy than to pair them with a contrastingly short hemline. Patricia Motta’s metallic skirts were perfect for the look.

You can file the closing dress under things only Gisele can look this good in, but the rest of Colcci’s autumn / winter 2014 collection nailed the idea of winter sex appeal with it’s plaids and leather pieces.

Alexandre Herchcovitch brought austere high necks and intricate lace to the runway, but never did any of it feel too stuffy. Some pieces that slouched off the shoulders were particularly effortless.

Delicate silks infused with a sporty mentality made some of Osklen’s pieces stand out as both effortless and chic. While not ideal for all climates come autumn, these are the kind of looks that’d work just as well in spring.

If ripped denim and slogan sweaters carry through to fall 2014 (and there’s no reason they shouldn’t), then Triton were well ahead of the trends with outfits like this one.

If we had to choose a winner between Reinaldo Lourenco’s cross-over, cut-away dresses or his intriguing metallic ones… well, let’s just say we wouldn’t want to have to.

Some of Acquastudio’s dresses had all the factors contributing to uncompromising elegance: delicate lace, full skirts, and cinched waists.

Tribal influences don’t preclude a collection from indulging in sharp tailoring and mirror-ball metallics. Tufi Duek’s fall collection had both.

As for the most attention-grabbing moment on the runway – for more reasons than just the ethereally sheer dresses – the award would have to go to Lino Villaventura for this girl-on-girl kiss. That said, the dresses were pretty gorgeous, too.
