It’s not the first time it’s happened, but unless it is resolved it should prove interesting to see fashion writers and buyers alike attempt to massage their schedules to allow them to be in two places at once;
New York, London, Milan and Paris are locked in a dispute that threatens to destabilise the multibillion-pound global fashion industry, The Daily Telegraph has learnt.
At issue is the timing of next year’s fashion weeks, the biannual showcase for designers and brands to present their wares for the latest season.
Earlier in the year, the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, which runs Italian fashion and organises Milan, declared that its 2012 womenswear fashion week would begin on Sept 19. The French Federation de la Couture du Pret-a-Porter then announced it will begin its week on Tuesday, September 25, 2012.
[In direct conflict], New York Fashion Week would start on September 13 and London on September 21.
