Despite her English roots, Stella McCartney has been one of many English designers to reveal her new collections outside of the country. Long a participant of Paris fashion week, McCartney will instead debut a special, one-off collection at the autumn / fall 2012 showings of London fashion week in February 2012.

But take note: this isn’t some new found patriotism. Nor is it a permanent move, the likes of which Burberry Prorsum undertook when they moved their women’s showings from Milan to London. In fact, not only is it a one-off showing focussed on increasing the popularity of the Stella McCartney brand in England, but it won’t even be a showing of McCartney’s autumn / winter 2012 collection.

The Saturday night “special fashion presentation” on February 18 next year will, her office emphasised, be to showcase a “one-off” Stella McCartney collection. It will be the focal point of a London-based marketing Stella-thon next February that will see a “World of Stella” exhibition of Selfridges, a new fragrance launch, and the opening of a new Stella McCartney store, her second in London.

To see McCartney’s take on the autumn / winter 2012 season, it seems you’ll still have to pick her showing out of a packed Paris Fashion Week calendar. London fashion week, it seems, has a calendar that will continue to be solely dominated by brand Burberry for quite some time yet.

Late one Oxford night Daniel P Dykes set about creating a fashion publication that would go someway to being an arbiter on fashion as it appeals to the emerging power generations: those who don't remember a world without the Internet and for whom work plays second fiddle to pleasure. And so Fashionising.com was born as a publication for those who were focussed not just on fashion's trends, but on society's too, and how those trends could all go to heighten the art of living. Hence, Daniel sees a future where, for those young at heart, both fashion and style are grounded in traditional quality, but with a youthful, sensualised edge. Daniel is Fashionising.com's Editor in Chief and Chairman.
