We’ve been from the edgy depths of London to the sophisticated heights of Milan; and in the spirit of a tradition started only a week ago (in which I rounded up a wishlist of 10 covetable looks from London) it seems only fair to give Milan fashion week the same treatment. Having seen too many amazing shows to count, I’m certain this list will be missing plenty of worthy inclusions. But none the less, the point is to highlight just a selection of outfits worth your attention.

So without further ado and in no particular order, here are 10 favourites from the Milan fall 2013 runways.

You could pluck any given outfit out of Dolce & Gabbana’s fall lineup, and it would easily make this list. Doubly so the heavily embellished, religious (without being shocking or irreverent) dresses that turned torsos into mosaics. Never before was the word ‘divine’ so literally fitting of a collection.

Pucci’s fall collection had Peter Dundas’ hallmark bohemian overtones, only this time with an injection of ’60s sex kitten. Maybe it’s the addition of Lindsey Wixson’s pout and some mod makeup that makes this particular ensemble – short, ornate, complete with peaked cap – particularly enticing.

Gianfranco Ferre’s fall offering killed you softly, like the sword of a samurai you didn’t see coming. Slits and plunges brought pure sex appeal to otherwise architectural and origami-like structure.

Francesco Scognamiglio gave ’40s Hollywood glamour a modern, rock-infused update, resulting in winter white soft suiting, relaxed pants, furs and capes that were elegant with an edge. Still, it was the closing numbers that took the wow factor to the extreme: sheer, embroidered, and beautiful to behold.

Ermanno Scervino turned Swarovski crystal embellishment into the kind of bling the most elegant and refined woman can wear, coupled with feminine hourglass silhouettes and heavy winter wools. Fending off the cold in style.

Alberta Ferretti is never lacking when it comes to breathtaking femininity and intricate detail. Fall 2013 saw the addition of plush, richly-hued velvet alongside the delicate lace numbers. And with all of them, we couldn’t help but fall for those Maltese Cross shaped earrings.

Genny’s black and white simplicity made for unique yet easy-to-wear looks: this cut-away black leather skirt is the sort you could wear over and again in so many different ways.

Skirt-over-pant silhouettes have been creeping back onto the runways. Blumarine’s all-over florals made the idea somewhat more appealing – albeit looking a little more suited to spring.

For fall, Frida Giannini was a hard mistress; filling Gucci’s runway with stern leathers and lace-up booties. Of course it all ended in glamorous gowns, but a clash of plaid and second-skin leather stuck in the mind for its fetishist undertones.

No-one knows how to have fun with fashion like Dan and Dean Caten, the DSquared2 duo who can turn the exaggerated and kitschy into desirable high fashion. You could do no better in summing up this particular velvet-clad, masculine inspired look than with one word: swagger.
