One imagines that the first thing they teach you at the Victoria’s Secret school for blossoming Angels is how to always have perfectly glamorous hair. Voluminous, bouncy hair subsequently follows any Angel wherever she goes, whether she’s modelling bras for VS or not. At the Burberry Prorsum show during London fashion week, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley could be seen front row in a vibrant coral red suit,…

When it comes to men and jewellery, it’s all about finding a balance between making a statement and feeling comfortable. Fears of dwindling masculinity can be put to rest, though, if you can find a piece that both speaks to your style savviness and does so subtly. This gent kept it smart, wearing a simple yet noticeable wooden triangle necklace over the collar of a…

In a city as smartly dressed as London, every single one of its beautiful streets can easily bear resemblance to a catwalk. The UK style is defined by London’s bright, quirky and youthful fashion and for spring 2013 the London fashion week runways brimmed with garments that kept on redefining the capital’s quintessential appeal. Imagine a full spectrum of wild colors, bold prints and edgy…

Bright blue eye makeup, the likes of which our imaginations would place on Cleopatra, can be all the makeup you need for a striking summer look. The makeup from Jean Pierre Braganza’s spring 2013 show at London fashion week was multiplied tenfold in its beautiful and exotic appeal when contrasted against dark skin, and translated surprisingly well when worn off-duty on the street.

There’s nothing like a mix of femininity and toughness to draw eyes and cameras come fashion week. In London during spring, the mix was manifested in everything from androgynous tailoring and heels to slouchy boyfriend shirts with skinny pants, to dresses given added cool factor by way of leather-trimmed varsity jackets. Click through the gallery for just some of the toughed-up street style looks from…

What would spring 2013 fashion be without prints? From the retro heaven of 60s inspired geometric patterns to the new takes on women’s camo, if there’s any city that’s fearless in throwing together a clash of print, it’s London. During the spring fashion week season, the streets were filled with quirky and whimsical prints be they accents or head-to-toe looks. Here’s a street style round-up…

Backstage at Eudon Choi’s autumn 2013 show, makeup artist Adam de Cruz and the AOFM Pro team were busy creating a beauty look that involved a ‘smokey brow’. Not sure exactly what that is? We wrote about the process as described by de Cruz over here, but to give you a better idea here are some shots of the look being diligently created backstage.

The title of Eugene Lin’s autumn 2013 collection – Cupid de Locke – had me in Mellon Collie era Pumpkins nostalgia, not least when the song finally came washing over the room as the models did their final walk down the London fashion week (LFW) runway. Lin was riffing on Classical Greek mythology; the story of Cupid’s arrow making Helen of Troy fall in love…

If you want to attract attention, it’s best to have an unconventional fashion statement that will make people on the street look twice at you. Take for example this street style look taken outside the Topshop Unique show in London: her fashion statement is her gaiter-style knee high boots from Givenchy’s fall 2012 collection.

“The brain works in mysterious ways” and with that said, Christoper Kane made his unusual source of inspiration this season appear somewhat more reasonable, easier to process. Seen otherwise, building a collection as inspired by the pulse sequence of an MRI brain scan is an action worthy of a modern-day Dr. Frankenstein. But than again, Kane was never shy of showcasing his fascination towards the…

The autumn / winter 2013 collection by Roksanda Ilincic was a trip down movie lane; pieces swanning down the runway were a cross between Monsters Inc based on the set of The Little House on the Prairie meets Independence Day. Let me explain… we were introduced to a colour palette of nudes and pastels to begin with; a lot of marshmallow pink, dark eau de…

We all felt a little wind swept when Ashish’s autumn / winter 2013 collection flew down the London fashion week (LFW) runway; the models sported high-volume, backcombed hair, which gave a sense of extensive manual labour. The show notes prepped us on the inspiration behind next fall’s range. “From penthouse to pavement…” “No more cocktails and canapés but builder’s tea and bacon doorstoppers.” Does this…

Fashionising.com headed backstage to the Haizhen Wang autumn / winter 2013 show where we shadowed head make-up artist Yin Lee at AOFM Pro. As we approached the model in her hot seat, we noticed blue stripes strewn across her face; we took the liberty to ask what the inspiration behind this look was: “A tribal look with a modern twist, for example we are using…

Sometimes pieces on a runway look amazing when part of the procession, but not so great when divorced from the whole. Others stand out as being the kind of pieces you’d want to buy and wear, regardless of what else they’re paired with. The London fashion week runways we’ve just witnessed have brought to light a vast variety of looks, from teeny shimmering cocktail dresses…
