But that doesn't actually qualify anything. Sex appeal is something you feel, and shouldn't hamper her career, and 14 year olds wear clothing each day.

I can understand where they're coming from and I'm sure when she's a little older she'll become even more successful.

However, the fact is that her age should not prohibit her career and her age should not be a deterrant if she is mentally mature enough to handle everything the world has to throw at her.

Who knows? Maybe this controversy will work in her favour if she handles it maturely and with grace.

Latest moral argument from some chap on TV: She shouldn't be allowed to model because other 14 year olds will want to wear make-up, and their parents won't be able to stop them because Monika has worn make-up in some of her photo shoots.

Hahaha that's hilarious! Some [old fashioned] people haven't got a clue. Heaven forbid a 14yr old who wears make up...WTF? I started wearing make up at 13 & I wish someone had of told me to start modeling at 13/14. I also had my first cigarette at 12 & was allowed to drink alcohol in the company of my parents well before then!

Personally, I believe that is the age that dreams can develop into reality & especially in the industry at hand. I think its wrong how it is generalised that a 14 yr old isn't capable of a career as such. And I think giving them something then taking it away is far more damaging then giving them hope to achieve what they've dreamt of probably all their childhood.

I know people who had their new born children in a swimming pool at some ungodly age & those children went on to be successful swimmers. What's so rotten about that? They were in bathing suits on blocks in front of many eyes. One even wore mascara! Ooooh.

14 is not young! If I cast back 14 years I have learnt a heck of a lot in those 14 years. And so I will for the next 14 years...its a lot of years & these girls should be able to decide for themselves. Or even them combined with their parent or legal guardian.

And while im here... "jim jams"??? Not advising about how to parent here, but personally I think some people do more damage wrapping their offspring up in cotton wool (or jim jams).

I think models who are 15 or younger should be allowed to model in magazines like Dolly and Girlfriend (targetting people of that age), but probably should not be in magazines such as Playboy or FHM or Zoo Weekly. And the poses of them should not be sexually suggestive (They can do that when they are older if they want to), or they should not wear extremely revealing clothing (see through lingerie, or tacky reverse cleavage...as mentioned in the other discussion)...They should be able to do swim-wear though. That's all just my opinion. If they are young, then they will have plenty of time in the future to get their modelling career off, so they should spend time on their childhood and smaller model contracts first.

I agree with those sentiments. Playbot, FHM and Zoo are all lad mags, they're published for a perve frankly, and finding a 14 year old in there would be disturbing.

But a 14 year old in Vogue? Not disturbing in the least. And suggesting it is sexual exploitation is just plain daft. Any sexualisation is in the eye of the beholder provided that the pose isn't crass or suggestive.

There's one shot of Monika Jagaciak in a white bikini, it's not a racy photo by any means, but it could be misconstrued as suggestive. But let's face facts, five year olds wear two-piece bikinis in this day and age, a 14 year old in a bikini is neither shocking nor ground-breaking.

Precisely what Daniel has said! Seriously, the way some of these thoughts go is starting to become as conservative as America. I can understand the intent behind the comments, however if there's full support of the parents, then let her be.

Yes in a way it is definitely up to the magazine to present the model in a way that is appropriate... a magazine like Vogue could easily hire a 14 year old (plenty of whom actually do read their magazine, and lets be honest Dolly probably has a lot more sexual-related content these days anyway) and style the shoot in such a way that suits that model and that audience.
