15 year olds too young to model?

Hate to be a "me too" here, but I agree; so long as the images aren't overtly sexual or perverse they should be fine.

Also, just to add, her parents should be in favour of the process as well, as they are the ones who can deem her mentally mature enough to handle the pressures of the industry; I was offered modelling work when I was quite young (from when I was about 12) but because my parents weren't in support of me doing it at such a young age because they didn't want me to 'lose sight of my school life' (they don't view modelling as a career... grr... sorry - tangent!), I've waited until now.

If the shoot is classy and respectful towards the model and she feels comfortable, then there shouldn't really be an issue.

And while im here... "jim jams"??? Not advising about how to parent here, but personally I think some people do more damage wrapping their offspring up in cotton wool (or jim jams).

AND... Anyone still calling them jim jams at that age shouldn't be within 2 foot of a runway, let alone determining other's decisions to be!

just to add to this:

Outcry over topless shots of model Zippora Seven, 16

AN Australian magazine is being investigated after photographing a 16-year-old girl topless in two fashion shoots.

Russh Australia, a lifestyle and fashion magazine, hired Zippora Seven for a provocative 18-page editorial fashion spread alongside 16-year-old male model Levi Clarke.

Shot in March, one of the images depicts the pair sharing a bubble bath nude with Seven topless and Clarke's eyes closed as if he is passed out.

In the foreground are four bottles of champagne.

The Classifications Act prohibits the depiction of nudity and sexual activity of minors under 18.

A spokesperson for the Australian Classification Board said: "I can advise that the board has contacted the publisher of Russh Australia."

Seven's Australian agent, Priscilla Leighton-Clark, said the photo shoot had gone too far.

"It's wrong that our girl has appeared in a magazine exposing her breasts when she's so young," Ms Leighton-Clark said.

Russh editor Natalie Shukur defended the Seven shoot, which was inspired by supermodel Kate Moss and actor Johnny Depp when they dated.

"We believe Russh readers 'get it' in this narrative story," she said.

"These are beautiful images of two young people in character."

Russh is marketed towards fashion-minded 18 to 35-year-olds with almost equal readership of males and females.

In a brief interview with Seven, the magazine asked, "When and where was your first kiss?"

"My first lick was in the bubble bath with Levi," she answered.

Seven lives in Auckland, New Zealand, but is in demand in Australia and has been shot locally for Vogue and Oyster magazines.

It was her second shoot with Russh this year. She appeared in the March issue topless while riding a horse.

In NZ, Seven is represented by Red11 agency and her mother, Ursula, is heavily involved in her career.

In Australia, she is represented by Priscilla's Model Management, an agency that has a long-standing reputation for being extremely protective of its models.

"I can't be on every shoot," Ms Leighton-Clark said. "Had I known it was to be a topless shoot, (Seven) would never have done it."

This sounds a little closer to the bone, but I have to confess that it's the implication of near-to underage sex as a result of alcohol consumption that disturbs me more.

But do a 16 year olds breasts differ from an 18 year old's? And given they can legally have sex, where do we draw the line?

I've put up photos of Zippora Seven - I've got to say they're nowhere near as bad (in terms of sex/alcohol) as the article makes out.

still underage nudity to me. why cant people just be young....its such a good time.
i have nothing against underage people being models (i was one myself) but nudity for these young models does draw the line for me.

Although she is a beautiful young girl, i think that if you want to pursue modeling at a young age, by all means go ahead. If you are COMPLETELY comfortable showing your boobs at 13-14 years old, in a magazine, go ahead. I myself, as a model, do not do nudity of any form, because i think that there is a fine line between what is art and what is whorish. Its in the attitude. Looking at the pictures of her topless, kinna disturbs me because she is so young.
She is in her youthful years, there is no need to rush nudity on this girl.
Even for modeling or money, it is not necessary to do that to such a young girl.
If she decided on that, then good for her.
As long as modeling scouts and photographers are letting her think for HERSELF,she will be well off.
There should be no rush to show nude images of yourself, so why start now?
I think that if a woman or a man wants to model at the age of 13 or even 5, let them.
It is their choice, and there are PLENTY of supermodels that were discovered at ages 15 and 16 years old, and there was no ban on that.
There are child modeling programs and such, so everyone wants todo this, even at a young age.

To me the modeling industry is extremely superficial, and very glamourized. It is a nasty industry, and pressuring to both women and men alike.
But it all depends on the person. I think everyone deserves the same rights as someone else.
If you are mature, and know what you are doing, then go ahead.

Daniel I beg to differ- a 16 year olds boob is a bit much.

Got to say I neither agree nor disagree on this one ruru, to me it teaks of hypocrisy for a government to say that sex at 16 (and the problems that go with it are fine) but showing an element of a body that everyone shares and is not gratuitous is wrong.
