Hello photographers. I'm still in secondary school and I really want to start taking photos of people (other than my pals) so I can add it to my portfolio, but I can't find anyone willing to pose for me, and I'm not brave enough to approach the other kids in the school because they'll probably think I'm weird. Where and how can I find people who will be willing to pose?

Note: I don't pay! Dx

Jazzie,
Friends are a good start, also you can fire a few shots off to www.starnow.com, www.modelmayhem.com and www.modellaunch.com.

Just be really honest about your experience and prep as well as you can so things go as smoothly as possible.

Dave pretty much nailed the answer. Try and start off with people that you are comfortable with, and then move on to the websites he mentioned. Most models are very friendly and don't mind helping out someone starting out.

Ditto to what Dave said. Also if you're brave enough, take self portraits but concentrate on the styling. Check out www.deviantart.com for a lot of talented work as well.

I've found that most people I've approached randomly have been flattered that I'd ask to take their photo. It takes a bit of confidence, but in the end, people like to know that other people consider them attractive. You might be surprised at how many people would agree to have you photograph them!
