"Alexander McQueen, one of Britain's most successful fashion designers, has been found dead after apparently committing suicide at his home in London.

The 40-year-old was discovered at his property in Green Street, in Londons West End, shortly after 10am today. It was reported that he had been found hanged."


Apparently his show for NYFW today has been cancelled. I feel so sad to hear this, he was a designer that has motivated and inspired me. I always dreamed of attending one of his shows. A loss of an icon, indeed. May he have found the peace he seeked. Rest in peace, Mcqueen.

I'm still in a state of shock at the death of Alexander Mcqueen.I was such a fan of his work and admired his creativity and signature brazen attitude to fashion.There really was no one else quite like him and looking at the state of the global economy today there will never be another McQueen.Like safe-sex,today its safe-fashion but with McQueen fashion was like mad-sex in the backroom of a bar on the docks where there was always the mystery,absurdity and most of all the thrill of each collection.He will be dearly missed.Things just won't be the same without him.He's irreplaceable.

RIP Lee.Thanks for the fashion roller coaster ride.You can now have a cuppa tea with your beloved Mum up there.We all know how much you loved and missed her.Condolences to his family.

Very well said Jean, it's incredibly sad to seem him pass away.

His amazing talent will be missed in the industry.

He was a creative genius and fashion icon!

The 40-year-old British designer known for his dramatic, original, painstakingly intricate, and often over-the-top fashions is believed to have committed suicide on February 11th. The Daily Mail is reporting the designer, whose mother died just a few days ago, was found dead in his central London apartment and it is believed that he hung himself. McQueens office confirmed the death to the British paper It is a tragic loss. We are not making a comment at this time out of respect for the McQueen family.

In addition to the death of McQueens mother, Joyce, just last week, the reported suicide comes three years after the suicide of Isabella Blow, the famed English magazine editor and stylist who bought McQueens entire Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design graduating collection, catapulting him into the spotlight.

So gutted... :( You'd see his collections and wonder what he could possibly come up with next. Spring/Summer 2010 was amazing. It seemed to me that he was doing some of his best work yet, it's sad that things were bad enough for him to end it that way. Rest in peace.

I know it's tragic, he was such an inspiration, one of a kind and incredibly talented... it's a huge loss.

It's just tragic. You know, when someone passes away sometimes you look at their photos and just find it too hard. I look at his work and I feel so saddenned, there is just so much of him in it, and he was just so brilliant, so talented, and always, always pushed the limit. Artists like him are what make the fashion industry unique.
