Do you think that people are just naturally manipulating? Even when in a relationship, haven't you ever found someone trying to manipulate you into feeling guilty, doing something, saying something? Have you ever found yourself trying to manipulate someone? Their feelings, decisions, etc: is it just part of our nature?
Some people can be manipulating. But to explain things simply, if one felt uncomfortable with certain people, the best way is to not try to change them but ditch them instead. If a relationship is built upon lies rather than honesty then there is no point in keeping that relationship. Noone wants to be manipulated into doing things they don't want to do and noone wants to be a doormat.
I had a (now ex-)friend make up a rape, fiancé, doing drugs, getting kicked out of home (resulting in her living with me up to 4 out of 7 days a week), her mother hitting her, an abortion, resulting medical issues, her "fiancé" cheating on her, them breaking up and then him stalking her.
When people asked about why we weren't talking, she told people we weren't talking because I owed her money.
She was certainly manipulative. :|

You know sometimes I think that some people do like to be a doormat.

There were too many loopholes and coincidences. I won't go into details because there is such a long, detailed list but things just didn't - and couldn't - add up.
No joke, she took a lot of the plot from the Twilight Saga and that Hilary Duff movie... "Raise Your Voice" or something? :/

It's all about selfishness. The only difference is that some of us know how to properly do this.
We're all manipulative in our own way. Or sometimes we just don't know we're doing it until someone tells us or we realize it ourselves too late. I even asked my boyfriend about this and we have the same answer. WOW! Hahaha.. This is just in our opinion about manipulation by nature. =)
